Alignment & Canting

Custom Alignment, Canting & Lower Leg Assessment

A core part of our boot fitting service is assessing and correcting your lower-body mechanics to establish a neutral, balanced stance over your skis. When your skeleton is properly aligned, your ankles, knees, and hips work in harmony — maximizing power transfer, edge precision, and comfort while significantly reducing fatigue.

Step 1

Neutral Footbed Foundation

We start from the ground up by building a custom footbed. This holds your foot in a relaxed, neutral position inside the boot, establishing a solid baseline before evaluating the rest of the leg.

Step 2

Lower Leg & Knee Alignment

Once the footbed is set, we evaluate how your knee travels in relation to your foot during flex. If your knee tracks too far inward or outward, we correct the lower-leg angle using two specialized methods:

Cuff Adjustment

First, we adjust the boot’s upper cuff to match the natural shape and angle of your lower leg.

Sole Canting & Precision Grinding

For structural alignment needs, we integrate canting directly into the base of the boot sole. We install a 3 mm to 5 mm wedge under the sole, precision-grind the angle inward or outward to match your specific biomechanics, and then route the top of the boot toe and heel to ensure proper binding clearance and safety.

Because human bodies aren’t symmetrical, your left and right legs may require completely different degrees of canting. By permanently shaping the soles to your body, we ensure effortless edge control and peak performance on both skis.
